Kampong Speu Strides Towards Land Harmony: Nearly 1,000 Villages Registered, Completing Vision 2025

The Kampong Speu Provincial Administration, in collaboration with a dedicated working group, has achieved the systematic registration of land in 998 villages across 64 communes/Sangkat in nine cities and districts. The comprehensive effort encompasses 579,764 plots, with 522,637 plots successfully entered, 571,441 plots mapped, and 426,583 letters officially signed as of 8 January 2024.

A recent milestone in this ongoing initiative saw the distribution of 1,772 land ownership certificates to the residents of the Kong Pisey district. The distinguished ceremony, graced by HE Say Sam Al, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Land Management, Urban Planning, and Construction on 12 January 2024, marked the 40th anniversary of providing land titles to the people.

Minister Say Sam Al emphasised that the issuance of land titles not only signifies the end of local disputes and conflicts but also ensures the lawful utilisation of land by the residents. He underscored the importance of modernising urban planning, a cornerstone aligned with the pentagonal strategy, to streamline land management, resolve out-of-court land disputes, and enhance overall efficiency.

HE Vy Samnang, Governor of Kampong Speu Province reiterated the province’s commitment to land reform in harmony with the Royal Government’s vision. The strategic goal is to accomplish comprehensive land registration by the end of 2025. Currently, Kampong Speu province boasts a dedicated team of 21 officers for systematic land registration, totalling 512 individuals responsible for this transformative mission.
