As of January 2024, Takeo Province Still Grapples with 220,000 Unregistered Land Plots

Takeo province is grappling with approximately 220,000 unregistered land plots according to HE Say Sam Al Minister of Land Management, Urban Planning, and Construction on 29 January 2024. The government, under the strategic plan of the seventh legislature, is committed to expediting the land registration process.

Highlighting the magnitude of the task, the deputy PM emphasized the indispensability of collaborative efforts from all stakeholders. Acknowledging that land management, urban planning, and construction demand collective engagement, he called for seamless cooperation to ensure effective and efficient progress in this crucial initiative.

As a tangible step towards facilitating the land registration process, HE Say Samal t ceremonially handed over essential equipment to the Department of Land Management, Urban Planning, Construction, and Cadastral Affairs of Takeo Province. The contribution includes 20 computers, 10 A4 printers, three A3 printers, and 10 scanners, aimed at bolstering the province’s capacity to carry out comprehensive land registration initiatives.

It is imperative to note that within the broader context, Cambodia contends with around 5 million unregistered land plots, while commendable progress has been made with the distribution of 5 million land cards to the rightful owners. (Read more)
