CAIC to Adjust Alignment of New Road Connecting 60m Road to New Airport

Cambodia Airport Investment Co., Ltd (CAIC) has proposed adjusting the alignment and lanes details of the road connecting Samdech Techo Hun Sen Blvd. (St. 60m) to the new Techo International Airport.

The proposal is currently under consideration by the Kandal Provincial Administration, as the relevant working group held a meeting on 7 March to discuss the proposal. However, no results have been disclosed from that meeting yet.

According to a CAIC announcement earlier this year, this road connecting St.60m to the new airport area is being studied and implemented by CHIC. The road is 11.7km long and needs two concrete bridges across Steung Prek Tnaot. (Read more)

CAI and OCIC also previously announce plans to build an expressway from Phnom Penh to the airport, with two sections: St. 60m to NR2 for 10km and NR3 to the new airport for 11km. (Read more)

However, according to Secretariat of State for Civil Aviation spokesperson HE Sin Chanseryvutha, the expressway project may be delayed or canceled, with the company constructing a normal road instead. (Read more)

As of early March, the construction of the new Techo International Airport was 32% complete, with a total of US$414 million spent on development excluding the value of the land. (Read more)
