Cambodia and Japan Partner on Hospitality Training to Drive Tourism Investment

The Cambodian Ministry of Tourism and the Japan-Cambodia Association have established a cooperative partnership to boost the tourism sector, aiming to accommodate the growing number of Japanese visitors. The two parties have agreed to jointly organize specialized Japanese-style hospitality training sessions to attract investment into Cambodia’s tourism industry.

This agreement was reached during a discussion last week between H.E. Hout Hak, Minister of Tourism, and H.E. TAKASHI Fumiaki, President of the Japan-Cambodia Association, along with their colleagues.

During the meeting, both sides agreed to establish cooperation through exploring the feasibility of launching Japanese-style hospitality training courses and by actively promoting and attracting major Japanese investors to the tourism and hospitality sectors in Cambodia. This includes a specific focus on drawing investment for the production of high-quality souvenirs within the country.

Furthermore, the President of the Japan-Cambodia Association committed to leading major Japanese investors to assess Cambodia’s tourism potential and investment opportunities. He also pledged to continue the broad promotion of Cambodia’s tourism potential to the Japanese populace to increase the number of Japanese and international tourists, especially given the existing direct flight route between Phnom Penh and Tokyo.

It should be noted that for the first eight months of 2025, Cambodia received over 4 million international tourists. Simultaneously, domestic tourists numbered 17.28 million, representing an increase of nearly 53% compared to the same period in 2024, according to a report previously released by the Ministry of Tourism.
