Cambodia Needs Almost US$50 billion to Implement 330 Projects in the Next Decade

Cambodia will need nearly US$50 billion to implement 330 transportation system projects over the next 10 years, according to HE Sun Chanthol, Minister of Public Works and Transport, during a working meeting with a delegation from CMA CGM (Cambodia) Co., Ltd on 14 June 2022.

HE Sun Chanthol said that Cambodia needs to invest nearly US$50 billion to develop about 330 projects in the next 10 years to make Cambodia’s logistics and transportation costs more competitive and contribute to attracting investors to create jobs in Cambodia.

Mr Laurent Olmeta, CEO of Asia-Pacific of CMA CGM, stated that his company wants to strengthen investment cooperation with the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port and Phnom Penh Autonomous Port in terms of port transportation.

The Minister of Public Works also said that in order to speed up the entry-exit procedures at the port and reduce the cost of shipping goods by sea, Cambodia plans an electronic data exchange system (Port EDI) that will be launched soon.
