Cambodia-Thailand Reopen Anlong Veng International Gate After Two Years Closure

Choam International Gate in Anlong Veng district, Oddar Meanchey province has officially reopened after being closed for more than two years due to COVID-19.

The official reopening was held on 9 May 2022 in the presence of Mr Pen Kosal, Governor of Oddar Meanchey province, and Mr Watthana Phutthichat, Governor of Sisaket province, Thailand, and relevant officials of the armed forces of both countries.

Choam International Gate in Cheung Phnom village, Trapeang Prey commune, Anlong Veng district, Oddar Meanchey province was reopened for people to cross at 11am on 9 May 2022 after the gate was closed temporarily by the Thai side for more than two years due to the global spread of COVID-19.

Both sides said the reopening of the Cambodia-Thailand international border checkpoint was temporary. If there are no problems in the testing period, the Thai side will remove all conditions to allow people of the two countries to cross as normal.

On 1 May, Cambodia and Thailand also reopened the Poipet International Border Crossing in Banteay Meanchey province, while the O’Smach International Border Crossing in Oddar Meanchey province also opened on 6 May 2022.
