Cambodia’s Trade Performance Surges in 2025 with Significant Growth in Both Imports and Exports

Annual report reveals double-digit increases in trade volume as the Kingdom strengthens its position in regional and global supply chains

In 2025, Cambodia witnessed a robust expansion in its trade activities, with import volumes exceeding 33 billion dollars, representing an 18.7 percent increase over the previous year. Simultaneously, export volumes rose by 14.6 percent to surpass the 30 billion dollar mark. These figures were presented by His Excellency Kun Nhem, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister and Director General of the General Department of Customs and Excise, during a comprehensive annual review meeting held on February 12, 2026.

The surge in imports was primarily driven by essential industrial and consumer requirements. Key categories contributing to this growth included petroleum products, vehicles, and heavy machinery, alongside vital raw materials for the textile and manufacturing sectors. Furthermore, the import of specialized machinery for large-scale investment projects, construction materials, and chemicals played a critical role in supporting the nation’s ongoing infrastructure and industrial development.

On the export front, Cambodia maintained strong momentum across both its traditional and emerging sectors. Garments, footwear, and travel goods remained the cornerstone of the nation’s exports. The agricultural sector also demonstrated impressive performance, with significant international shipments of rubber, cashew nuts, and cassava, as well as fresh fruits such as mangoes and bananas. Notably, the rising export of machinery and electrical equipment highlights Cambodia’s successful efforts to diversify its economic base into higher-value manufacturing.

The substantial growth in trade reflects the Kingdom’s economic resilience and the effectiveness of strategic policies aimed at enhancing international commerce. As the General Department of Customs and Excise outlines its direction for 2026, the focus remains on further facilitating trade flow and improving administrative efficiency to support continued national prosperity and integration into global markets.
