China Announces Expansion of Investment in Cambodia with Medical Glove Factory

In a significant move to bolster its investment footprint in Cambodia, China’s Shijiazhuang Hongray Group Co., Ltd., a leading manufacturer of medical gloves and personal protective equipment (PPE), has announced plans to establish a new factory aimed at increasing production capacity for export markets.

During a recent meeting held on July 4, 2025, between H.E. Chea Wutty, Secretary General of the Cambodia Investment Committee, and a delegation from Shijiazhuang Hongray, company representatives expressed their intent to find suitable locations for the new facility. The expansion is expected to add up to 10 new production lines dedicated to the manufacturing of medical gloves and PPE.

Mr. Liu Guixi, a representative from the company, emphasized the importance of this investment as part of their strategy to enhance the production chain in Cambodia. In response to this initiative, H.E. Secretary General Chea Wutty expressed strong support for the investment expansion and encouraged the company to prioritize the use of local rubber in their production processes. This approach will not only bolster local industries but also mitigate environmental risks associated with industrial manufacturing.

With nearly 30 years of experience in the field, Shijiazhuang Hongray Group Co., Ltd. has established a solid reputation in the international market, exporting high-quality medical gloves and PPE to clients in the United States and Europe. Previously, the company collaborated with Medtecs MSEZ Corp., Ltd. to set up a medical glove manufacturing facility in the Manhattan Special Economic Zone located in Svay Rieng Province.

This further investment highlights the growing economic ties between China and Cambodia, particularly in the healthcare manufacturing sector, and underscores the potential for job creation and economic development in the region.
