Shenzhen Company Aims to Boost Cambodian Pharmaceutical and Health Sectors

Shenzhen Jintong, a prominent company from China, has announced its intention to invest in Cambodia’s pharmaceutical and health sectors, marking a significant step towards enhancing the bilateral economy.

During a meeting on October 14 between HE Chheang Ra, Cambodia’s Minister of Health, and a delegation from Shenzhen led by Mr. Yong Liu, the company’s President, alongside Professor Zhang Suji, Director of Medical Science and Research, both parties discussed potential investment avenues.

Mr. Liu emphasized the goal of the meeting: to explore and understand the investment landscape within Cambodia’s health sector. He noted that this initiative aligns with the ongoing cooperation between the Chinese and Cambodian governments and aims to bolster the Cambodian economy.

In response, Minister Chheang Ra expressed the Ministry of Health’s strong support for foreign investment in the health sector, provided it adheres to legal frameworks and national and international standards. He underscored the importance of ensuring quality health services and the safety of Cambodian citizens through these investments.

Additionally, the health sector in Cambodia is seeing further engagement from the Sino Group and YHS (Cambodia) Food & Beverage Pte Ltd (Yeo’s). These companies are collaborating on a feasibility study to establish a mobile clinic offering nutritional assistance to vulnerable children across various provinces in Cambodia. This project, aimed at enhancing social responsibility, was also discussed during a meeting on the same day with His Excellency Sun Chanthol.

As these partnerships take shape, Cambodia looks forward to advancements in healthcare access and quality for its citizens, driven by international collaboration and investment.
