China Extends US$2 Million Grant to Cambodia for 9 Transformative Projects under Mekong-Lancang Cooperation

China has generously allocated a grant of US$2 million to Cambodia through the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation, empowering the implementation of nine vital projects within the country.

This noteworthy financial assistance was extended under the auspices of the Special Fund Agreement for the 2023 Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Project, a testament to the enduring partnership between the two nations.

The agreement was formalized on 15th June 2023, marking a milestone in Cambodia’s pursuit of progress and development.

The infusion of the special fund will bolster the efficacy of the nine projects, spanning diverse domains such as transportation and logistics, information technology, food security, research, capacity building, and heritage conservation. With China’s unwavering support, these initiatives will gain impetus and contribute significantly to Cambodia’s socio-economic advancement.

Over the past six years, Cambodia has reaped the benefits of the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Special Fund, with approximately 80 projects receiving financial aid worth an impressive US$31 million.
