China Pledges to Finance Construction of Nr 7 From Kratie to Lao Border

The Shanghai Construction Company has decided to continue building National Road 7 from Kratie to the Lao border under a grant aid from the People’s Republic of China, according to a report from the Department of Public Works and Transport of Kratie.

The decision was made after the Chinese Development Cooperation Agency (SCDF), H.E. Lim Sidany, Secretary of State of Ministry of Public Works and Transport, and the Shanghai-China Company (SCC), checked on progress on the construction project in Kratie.

According to the same source, SCC will build more than 96km of road from Romeat to the Lao border in addition to the 93.565km long road which was completed in December 2018.

The People’s Republic of China has recently played a very important role in financing and building infrastructure projects in Cambodia. According to the report from the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, as at 2019, China has provided total aid and loans worth more than US$2 billions for roads and bridges projects in Cambodia.
