Chinese Company Danong Development Group to Invest in Agriculture in Takeo Province

Takeo Province, Cambodia – In a significant move for the local agricultural sector, the Chinese company Danong Development Group has announced plans to invest in agriculture in Takeo Province, focusing primarily on livestock and key agricultural products. This announcement was made during a meeting between company representatives and the Takeo provincial administration on November 13, 2024.

Zhao Shujie, the chairman of Danong Development Group, outlined the investment strategy, which will revolve around four main areas: providing grass for animal husbandry, breeding livestock, cultivating corn, and raising pigs and cattle. He emphasized that these elements will establish a robust supply chain, leveraging advanced processing equipment and innovative livestock farming practices.

Governor HE Vy Samnang welcomed Danong, praising the company’s experience in modern and intelligent agro-industry from Shandong Province, China. He remarked that the collaboration would empower local farmers by sharing expertise, technology, and resources, potentially transforming Takeo’s agricultural landscape into a model for agro-industry development in Cambodia.

Mr. Zhao further clarified the rationale behind choosing Takeo for these investment projects, highlighting the province’s considerable agricultural potential compared to other regions in Cambodia.

Moreover, it is noteworthy that on September 15, 2023, this large company signed agreements with four companies to establish a model area on an area of ​​more than 10,000 hectares, including corn breeding. Growing straw and high-protein grass, raising cattle for meat, and building processing plants for agricultural products. (Read more)
