Construction of PP-SHV Expressway 70% Complete, Set to Finish Ahead of Schedule

Construction of the 190km Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville expressway is approximately 70% complete as of November 2021, according to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT)’s spokesperson Heang Sotheayuth.

Mr Sotheyuth added that the project is expected to be completed ahead of schedule, moving from 2023 to late 2022.

Early this month, the Chinese company building the new Phnom-Penh-Sihanoukville expressway confirmed the pavement work on the final surface layer of this expressway has been started. (Read more)

In September, work on the largest 225m bridge on this expressway crossing the river at Kbal Chhay waterfall also began. (Read more)

Minister of Public Works and Transport HE Sun Chanthol said in June that the ministry is also currently negotiating for the firm for the free ride during the early few months, and to charge as low a fee as possible afterwards. (Read more)

The Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway has a total length of 190 kilometres connecting Sangkat Samrong Krom, Khan Por Senchey in Phnom Penh to Sangkat 3 in Sihanoukville.

The project is expected to cost a total of US$2 billion and is being built by China Bridge and Road Corporation (CRBC) through the Cambodian PPSHV Expressway Co., Ltd.
