Construction of Stueng Trang-Krouch Chmar Bridge finished by December

The Cambodia-China Friendship Bridge (CRC) is 84% complete, according to HE Sun Chanthol, Minister of Public Works and Transport at a press conference on “Progress and Continuing Direction of Ministry of Public Works and Transport organised by the government spokesperson’s office at the Council of Ministers on 21 February 2020.

Linking Stung Trang (Kampong Cham) to Krouch Chhmar (Tbong Khmum), the construction of this bridge began on 9 February 2018 and is now 84% complete. The bridge body is expected to be finished by the end of December, while additional works such as asphalt concrete flooring as well as installing signs and poles will be completed by 2021.

Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen said at the groundbreaking ceremony that the project is the third bridge across the Mekong River that was built in Cambodia with the help of China. Each bridge represents the strong friendship between China and Cambodia.

The bridge shows solid ties between Cambodia and China, and also results in huge economic benefits in terms of logistics. This bridge can be a shortcut for exporting and importing goods between Trapeang Tlung, Tbong Khmum province and Tan Bin, Tay Ninh province, Vietnam.
