Construction Sector Flourishes with Approved Projects Worth US$1.2 Billion in First Quarter

The construction industry in Cambodia has experienced a remarkable surge, as evidenced by the approval of an impressive 1,023 construction proposals in the first quarter of this year. This figure represents a significant year-on-year increase of 22 percent, highlighting the robust growth and investment in the sector.

The Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning, and Construction spearheaded the approval process, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and promoting sustainable urban development.

According to the Socio-Economic Trends report from the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the total construction value for the first three months of 2023 reached an impressive US$1,248 million. This remarkable figure reflects a substantial surge of 150.5 percent compared to the corresponding period last year, affirming the industry’s vitality and potential for further expansion.

Of the approved construction proposals, a staggering 87.6 percent, totaling 896 projects, were dedicated to housing development. While this number signifies a slight decrease of 25 projects compared to the same period last year, it underscores the sustained demand for quality residential properties across the country.

The emphasis on housing projects demonstrates the government’s commitment to meeting the growing needs of its citizens and supporting the country’s economic progress.

This surge in construction proposals and investments signifies a promising trend for Cambodia’s real estate and construction sectors. As the nation continues to foster an environment conducive to growth, these approved projects will not only contribute to the development of vibrant communities but also create employment opportunities and spur economic growth.
