East Group Announces Plans for Special Economic Zone in Preah Sihanouk Province

 

Investors from East Group have unveiled their ambitious plans to establish a special economic zone in Preah Sihanouk Province, marking a significant move aimed at boosting local economic development.

In a working meeting with HE Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice President of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, East Group representatives discussed their proposal for this special economic zone, located in Preah Nop district. The dialogue focused on the steps necessary to advance their application and align it with national laws and regulations.

During the meeting, the East Group investors expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to present their project to Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol. They emphasised the importance of guidance from government leaders and experts to ensure that the establishment of the economic zone adheres to all relevant legal standards, facilitating a smooth implementation process.

According to the 2024 Work Results Report and the 2025 Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology, and Innovation Work Directions, Cambodia currently boasts 30 special economic zones with operating factories spread across 12 capitals and provinces. The report notes a notable increase in the number of zones, with four additional economic zones established in 2024, reflecting a growth rate of 15.38% compared to the previous year. (Read more)
