Gov’t Allocates 8 hectares of Beoung Ta Mok Land to the Ministry of Justice

The Council of Ministers has allocated 8 hectares of Beoung Ta Mok (or Beoung Khob Srov) land to the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) to build document storage, according to the MOJ on 30 September.

MOJ Secretary of State HE Kim Santepheap told Construction & Property Magazine that the decision was made following a letter from the Office of the Council of Ministers sent to the relevant ministers as well as the governor of Phnom Penh.

According to the letter, the government agreed to allocate 8 hectares of Beoung Ta Mok land located in Kork Roka commune of Prek Pnov district to the MOJ to build shared document storage facilities between MOJ, the Phnom Penh Municipal Court, and the Phnom Penh Court of Appeal.

Beoung Ta Mok land has a total area of over 3,000 hectares which is considered as state property controlled under Decree No. 20 dated February 20, 2016.

The government has thus far allocated the Beoung Ta Mok land multiple times already. On 01 September, the government allocated 15 hectares of Beoung Ta Mok land to the Ministry of Rural Development to build a headquarters. (Read more)

On 22 June, approximately 300 hectares were given to the Ministry of National Defense for its new armed forces headquarters. (Read more)

On 27 April 2020, the government also decided to grant ownership of 30 hectares of Beoung Ta Mok to Mrs Kim Heang in exchange for three other areas of land. (Read more)

In early March, 83 hectares of Beoung Ta Mok was also granted to Phnom Penh Municipality to be developed as a national garden and public park. (Read more)

In 2018, the Royal Government also approved 20 hectares of the lake to be used to build a fruit and vegetable market and to move the vegetable market from Phsar Deum Kor to Psar Beoung Tamok Thmey market in response to a request from the Council of Minister’s letter dated 02 August 2018.
