Gov’t Cancels Stueng Trang-Krouch Chmar Bridge Inauguration Ceremony

Samdech Prime Minister Hun Sen has decided to cancel the Stung Trang-Krouch Chhmar Bridge inauguration ceremony which was scheduled for 07 December, due to the rise in community infection caused the so-called ‘The 28 November Community Incident’.

PM Hun Sen announced that during the ground-breaking ceremony for the 38-roads renovation project in Siem Reap on 30 November. (Read more)

“I have asked HE Sun Chanthol to cancel the Stung Trang Krouch Chhmar Bridge inauguration in Kampong Cham on 07 December, because I have to travel by helicopter, so I cannot travel,” he said.

“It is not too necessary, just a symbol of connecting the bridge, so they have to do it five days before the inauguration, there is no problem,” he added.

Located in Trapeang Kak commune, Stueng Trang district of Kampong Cham province, the bridge is 1,131 metres long, 13.5 metres wide, and constructed with a budget of US$57 million, comprising a loan from China plus government budget.

After the ground was broken on 09 February 2018, upon completion, the bridge will promote the development and economic growth in Kampong Cham, as well as facilitate the travel and transportation of agricultural products of local people. (Read more)
