Chom Chao flyover

Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen presided over the groundbreaking ceremony for the Chom Chao flyover and underpass on the morning of 29 June, at the one of the most highly-congested areas in the capital Phnom Penh.

The USD22 million project will be undertaken by the Overseas Cambodia Investment Corporation (OCIC) and will take a total of 30 months to complete. The whole structure comprises of five sections including:

1.   A 408-metre long, 15.8-metre wide four-lane main flyover connecting Russian Boulevard to National Road No.3
2.  A 202-metre long and 5.25-metre wide exit wing from the main flyover connecting Russian Boulevard to Veng Sreng St. with a one-car lane and a one-motorbike lane.
3.  A 206-metre long and 5.2-metre wide curved road connecting Veng Sreng St. to National Road No. 3, consisting of a one-car lane and a one-motorbike lane.
4.  A 130-metre long and 8.5-metre wide curved road and an underpass connecting Veng Sreng St. to National Road No. 4 with a two-car lane and a one-motorbike lane.
5.  A 470-metre long and 8.5-metre wide ground road connecting National Road No.4 to Russian Blvd, with a two-car lane and a 1-motorbike lane.
“The new flyover will help ease traffic congestion on the multiple routes leaving and entering Phnom Penh city including National Road No.3 and No.4, Chom Chao road and Russian Bouelvard. Chom Chao is a central artery where many main roads meet, creating very serious traffic congestion,” said PM Samdech Hun Sen during the groundbreaking ceremony.

After it is completed, the Chom Chao flyover will be the sixth flyover in the capital after Psar Dey Hoi, Kbal Thnal, Stueng Mean Chey, 7 Makara, and 5 Makara.
