Groundbreaking for Cambodia’s Newest Satellite City: Mekong Key City Takes Shape in Areyaksat

In a significant step towards urban development and economic revitalization, the Cambodian government officially broke ground on the ambitious Mekong Key City project on December 17, 2024. The ceremony, attended by Prime Minister Hun Manet, marks the beginning of a modern satellite city that promises to transform the landscape along the eastern bank of the Mekong River.

Spanning over 200 hectares, Mekong Key City is a collaborative venture between TP Moral Group (TPMG) and Khun Sea Group. During the groundbreaking event, Prime Minister Hun Manet highlighted the project’s potential as a catalyst for economic growth, stating, “This investment not only denotes a recovery in the real estate sector but also signifies our commitment to creating jobs and opportunities for the people of this region.”

Mekong Key City is envisioned as a vibrant hub featuring a mix of modern commercial buildings, waterfront shopping malls, educational institutions, international standard hotels, and cultural tourism centres. According to Mr. Khun Sengpheng, CEO of TP Moral Group, the project has been meticulously designed to cover approximately 210 hectares, with plans for construction focusing initially on 140 hectares.

“We see Mekong Key City as a transformation of what was once a wasteland into a flourishing economic zone, driving growth and offering employment opportunities to the residents,” said Khun Sengpheng. “The strategic location along the Mekong River, opposite the historical Chaktomuk River, will attract investment and enhance the area’s connectivity.”

As construction progresses, Mekong Key City is anticipated to not only elevate the real estate market in Cambodia but also position Areyaksat as a key player in the region’s socio-economic development. The project represents a significant investment in Cambodian infrastructure, promising to usher in a new era of urban living and economic potential.
