During the first half of 2023, Cambodia witnessed a remarkable surge in financial support to the economic sector. Banks and microfinance institutions disbursed an impressive sum of $57.8 billion (equivalent to 238.7 trillion riels), signifying an impressive year-on-year increase of 10.5%. This financial injection has been instrumental in driving various sectors of the economy.

These substantial loans have been strategically allocated across a spectrum of sectors, including wholesale and retail trade, home ownership, agriculture, real estate services, construction, manufacturing, and more. The diversification of these investments underscores Cambodia’s commitment to fostering a robust and well-rounded economy.

Notably, the real estate sector has been a significant beneficiary of these loans, with more than $6.9 billion allocated for property investments. Of this, the real estate industry received over $4.7 billion, while the construction sector secured more than $4.4 billion. This substantial investment in real estate and construction signifies the growing interest in Cambodia’s property market.

This impressive infusion of capital into the Cambodian economy showcases the resilience and dynamism of the nation’s financial sector. As Cambodia continues to position itself as an attractive destination for investment and economic growth, such financial support plays a pivotal role in driving progress and prosperity.
