SHV Welcomes 2.8 Million Tourists in First Half of 2024, Including 200K Foreign Visitors

In the first six months of 2024, Sihanoukville attracted a total of 2.8 million tourists, including 200K foreign visitors, showcasing a significant increase from the previous year. This information was revealed during a meeting between HE Mang Sineth, Governor of Sihanoukville Province, and Mrs. Tuy Le Chheng, Ambassador of Singapore to Cambodia, on 29 July 2024.

Governor Sineth highlighted that among the 2.8 million tourists, 2.6 million were nationals, while more than 200K were foreigners, with European tourists being particularly drawn to Koh Rong for its fishing, diving, and vibrant coral biodiversity.

Sihanoukville, a province with immense potential for economic growth and tourism, boasts 2 cities, 3 districts, 29 communes, 111 villages, 32 islands, and beautiful beaches stretching 175 km, along with numerous onshore and submarine national parks. It is one of the four coastal provinces, alongside Koh Kong, Kampot, and Kep, recognized by the government as having some of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

During the meeting, the Singaporean Ambassador pledged to promote Sihanoukville’s investment and tourism potential to Singaporean investors and tourists.

Additionally, Cambodia is considering a cooperative project with Thailand and Vietnam to develop a new sea route connecting the archipelago near Trat province in Thailand with Kien Giang province in Vietnam via Sihanoukville. This ambitious project aims to boost tourism, trade, investment, and industrial activities across the coastal regions of the three countries. (Read more)
