Infrastructure Projects in Singapore Named as Finalists in Bentley Systems’ Year in Infrastructure 2019 Awards Program

Bentley Systems, Incorporated, the leading global provider of comprehensive software and digital twins services for advancing the design, construction, and operations of infrastructure, has announced several projects in Singapore as finalists in its Year in Infrastructure 2019 Awards program. The annual awards program honors the extraordinary work of Bentley software users advancing infrastructure design, construction, and operations throughout the world. Twelve independent jury panels of distinguished industry experts selected the 54 finalists from 571 nominations submitted by more than 440 organizations in more than 60 countries.

The projects in the Singapore named as finalists for Year in Infrastructure 2019 Awards for going digital advancements in infrastructure are:

Geotechnical Engineering
ARUP Singapore Pte Ltd – Tanjong Pagar Mixed Development – Singapore
Project Summary: Guoco Tower is a 64-story, mixed-use development project with an 18-meter-deep, three-level basement connected to the existing underground Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) railway station. ARUP Singapore was retained as the civil and structural consultant to develop a foundation design that met specifications impacting the MRT and surrounding city structures.

Bentley applications facilitated accurate modeling, planning, and a timely, cost-effective foundation and earth retaining structural scheme that simplified and accelerated construction, while controlling impact on existing adjacent infrastructure sequence excavation works.

Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants
AECOM Singapore Pte Ltd and Keppel Infrastructure Holdings Pte Ltd – Keppel Marina East Desalination Plant – Singapore
Project Summary: Keppel Marina East Desalination Plant (KMEDP) is a large-scale, dual mode desalination plant that can treat either salt water from the sea or freshwater from the Marina Reservoir. Mostly underground, the facility features 20,000 square meters of parkland on the roof and an unconventional architectural design. The project team used Bentley applications to enable BIM strategies throughout design and construction. A digital twin of KMEDP is also under development.

Jacobs Engineering Group and Singapore’s National Water Agency, PUB – Tuas Water Reclamation Plant – Singapore

Project Summary: The Tuas Water Reclamation Plant is part of the Deep Tunnel Sewerage System Phase 2 project and is PUB, Singapore’s National Water Agency’s initiative to serve Singapore’s water needs. The project team used Bentley applications to create 3D models, which ensured design consistency and improved multidiscipline coordination during the design and construction phases of the project.

Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony and gala on October 24 during Bentley’s Year in Infrastructure 2019 Conference, which will be held October 21 through 24 in Singapore at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre. The annual conference explores innovations in software technology enabling infrastructure project delivery and asset performance. The theme of this year’s conference is Advancing BIM through Digital Twins.
