Interior Ministry Green Lights Request for Establishing Six New Communes

The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has given the green light to the request by six provincial administrations to establish six new communes and modify some administrative boundaries within the provinces.

According to letter No.146 dated 06 July 2021 of the MoI, the proposed communes include Bourvil, Oukandear Sen Chey, Phnom Krang Dey Meas, Yeay Mao Pichnil commune, Sangkat Ou Chrov, and Sangkat Ou Ruessei.

Those commune/sangkat are located in Battambang, Kratie, Kampong Chhang, Kampong Speu, and Banteay Meanchey respectively.

Meanwhile, the request to modify boundaries are from Kratie and Kampong Thom province, with the boundaries between Sambour commune and Vattanac commune; and Bung Lvea commune and Kampong Thma commune being modified accordingly.

After consideration, the MoI has instructed all six provincial administrations to establish working groups to study, draw new maps, make full reports, and resubmit them to the MoI to organise the procedure.
