Japanese Firm, Minebea Cambodia, to Establish US$650m SEZ on 50ha of Land in Pursat

Minebea Cambodia is set to embark on its second investment project, allocating approximately US$650 million to acquire a 50-hectare plot in Pursat province, where it plans to establish a special economic zone. The decision was announced by HE Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister & First Vice President of the Council for the Development of Cambodia during an interview on 24 February 2024.

HE Sun Chanthol shared that Minebea Cambodia’s expansion into Pursat aims to create a dedicated economic zone and enhance production line connectivity. The project, scheduled to commence in 2030, is expected to generate 8,000 job opportunities for residents.

The strategic choice of Pursat as the location for this venture is attributed to its proximity to Thailand and convenient access via National Road 5, which has recently been expanded from two to four lanes. Additionally, ongoing efforts are being made to address issues related to the Stung Bot-Banang Ean international border crossing, with progress reported on the Cambodian side of 100% completion.
