Japan Mulls Building Smart Bus Terminals in Phnom Penh

Phnom Penh City Hall has signed an agreement with Japan to begin the feasibility study for a smart bus terminal project in Phnom Penh.

The signing ceremony was held yesterday with the presence of representatives of Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT), the Japanese Embassy, the Phnom Penh Department of Public Works and Transport, the Public Transport Authority, and other stakeholders.

However, the meeting did not disclose any detailed information of the project such as the study timeline and investment budget.

Similarly, in 2020, a Chinese firm China Good Cars Holding Ltd announced plans to build three car parks worth over US$160 million on the outskirts of Phnom Penh. However, to date, neither the city nor the Chinese company has shown progress on the project. (Read more)
