Land Ministry Speeding Up Work on Land Usage Masterplan in Mondulkiri

The Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction (MLMUPC) has recently chaired a meeting with relevant officers to review and speed up progress on the land-use masterplan in Mondulkiri.

Held on 8 April, the meeting was chaired by the Secretary of State of the MLMUPC Pen Sophal with the participation of the special working group in Mondulkiri.

This land-use master aims to make the land management in the province more accurate, transparent, and efficient. Upon completion of this master, the ministry hopes that most of the land dispute and state land encroachment cases within province will be resolved.

Mondulkiri is one among provinces experiencing the most land dispute cases due to uncertainty and lack of a masterplan. In fact, according to data released by the provincial governor last year, Mondulkiri provincial authorities have seized at least 2,000 hectares of illegally occupied land. (Read more)

In the same year, a total of 550 inter-ministerial officials were formed to go into the field measuring and reconfiguring land uses there as well. (Read more)

Mr Sorn Seap, Founder and Director of Key Real Estate Co., Ltd., told Construction & Property Magazine that due to this uncertainty, land prices in this province are relatively low, which is an excellent opportunity for resort development. (Read more)
