Measures Set for Hotels, Restaurants and Construction

The government, through the National Committee for Cambodia Bay Management and Development, is setting out measures for hotels, restaurants and construction in Sihanoukville, according to the Ministry of Land Management Urban Planning and Construction (MLMUPC) on 25 March 2019.

During an inspection trip to Sihanoukville province, the committee told all hotels, restaurants and construction to install sewage treatment plants before releasing waste into the public pipes.

In addition, all construction sites should construct a fence at least 2 metres with concrete footers at least 80cm deep so soil and solid waste cannot not leak from the site to public areas such as beaches and roads.

The measures are taken to ensure the security, sanitation, beauty, and the environment of this rapidly developing city.

Meanwhile, the committee is also a constructing wastewater treatment plant and installing pumping stations in Sihanoukville. (Read more)

In addition, the committee is currently addressing the problem with waste management on the beach and on construction sites by improving infrastructure such as pipelines, roads, as well as electricity.
