Ministry Earns US$21 Million in Royalty Revenue from Mining Sector

The royalty revenue, or non-tax revenue, from the mining sector totalled US$21 million for 2020, inching up 5% compared to 2019, according to the Ministry of Mines and Energy.

Director-General of Mines at Ministry of Mines and Energy HE Yos Monirath said on 24 May that the royalty revenues were from the registered licenses of mines including stones, sand, gravel, and excavated soil.

Although the growth rate of the revenue was relatively low, it reflected the active mining activities of each mine license, he said.

The ministry has issued more than 100 licenses for all types of sand businesses and 40 licenses for mining exploration across the country.
