MoE Halts Certification & Handover of Community Forest Land

The Ministry of Environment (MoE) has issued a directive to immediately halt all processes related to the certification, recognition, or transfer of community forest land or land earmarked for clearing. The directive, outlined in letter No. 1839/0424 B.E. dated 10 April 2024, underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring meticulous oversight and effective management of forest resources.

In this correspondence, HE Eang Sophalleth, Minister of Environment, emphasised the importance of proper procedures in confirming land titles or maps and transferring them to institutions, organisations, or clients.

He highlighted that such actions must be authorised by the head of the institution to maintain order and effective management in the environmental sector, preventing any misuse or negative implications.

Unauthorised certification or transfer of documents has led to confusion and may have adverse effects on environmental management. Therefore, it is essential to adhere to the established protocols to ensure clarity and accountability in these processes.
