Ministry of Public Works, World Bank Discuss Infrastructure Development

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport and the World Bank have discussed road infrastructure development projects and wastewater treatment plants in Cambodia.

The discussion was held on 24 May between the Acting Minister and Secretary of State HE Touch Chan Kosal and Benedict L.J Eijbergen, World Bank Transport Manager.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the installation of EV charging station equipment to promote the widespread use of EVs in Cambodia and the bus system development project in Siem Reap city.

The meeting also discussed the management of wastewater treatment systems in major capitals and provinces, especially Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville, and the Phnom Penh Logistics Centre (PPLC) development project.

Additionally, the meeting discussed the implementation of the project to build and expand National Road 4 under the concessional loan from the World Bank aimed to reduce traffic congestion and increase the safety of travel for people.

The World Bank has provided support to the Royal Government of Cambodia, in particular, the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, for the development of transport infrastructure in Cambodia and for cooperation in the development of clean water and wastewater treatment facility infrastructure to improve the wellbeing of the people.
