Mondulkiri Authorities Speed Up Work on Border Infrastructure Enhancement

Mondulkiri Governor HE Svay Sam Eang inspected the construction sites of two border infrastructure rehabilitation projects on Wednesday 21 April to ensure that the work progress is on track and can be completed as scheduled by the end of 2021.

The first project is the construction of the O’Plai concrete bridge, which is 45 metres long and 10 metres wide. Construction of the bridge began in November 2020 and is scheduled for completion by the end of 2021.

The second project is the construction of an AC road connecting NR76 (at km 135 + 100) to Provincial Road No. 3764, stretching all the way to the Nam Lear Cambodia-Vietnam border gate in Pechrea district.

The road has a total length of 51km and to date over 33km has been paved, while the team is speeding up the remaining works.

HE Sam Eang said that these two infrastructure projects will play vital roles in easing travel and goods transportation between neighbouring countries.

Besides these two projects, Mondulkiri province is also undertaking another large-scale border infrastructure project, which is a 314km Cambodia-Vietnam border road. As of March, construction has been over 80% completed. (Read more)
