MPT Plans to Build Community Technology Centres at 558 High Schools Nationwide

The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (MPT) has set forth an ambitious plan to establish community technology centers at 558 high schools nationwide, signaling a resolute commitment towards advancing digital development. This visionary initiative was unveiled by HE Chea Vandeth, Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, during the distinguished inauguration ceremony of the UNESCO Data Science Certificate Program on 4 July 2023.

Minister Chea Vandeth underscored the significance of the Data Science Certification Program as a testament to the robust partnership between Cambodia, Korea, and UNESCO, particularly within the sphere of information and communication technology advancement.

“In pursuit of cultivating a digitally adept society, the ministry recently introduced a nationwide competition aptly named the “Digital Talents Program.” This competition is strategically designed to cultivate digital fluency, particularly among the burgeoning pool of high school students across the nation,” added the minister.

Elaborating on the ministry’s expansive vision to bolster the nation’s digital prowess, Minister Chea Vandeth expounded on the upcoming establishment of community technology centers. These centers are poised to take root in 558 high schools across the country, serving as nuclei for skill enhancement and digital empowerment.

Targeting an array of stakeholders ranging from students to local officials and workers, these centers aim to elevate digital competence and navigate the intricacies of digital ecosystems within local communities.
