New Flyover at Kbal Thnal area officially opened for official use

Kbal Thnal Flyover connecting Monivong Boulevard to Norodom Boulevard will open for public use from May 1, 2020, onward to address traffic congestion in the Kbal Thnol area.

According to the official website of the Ministry of Information on 30 April 2020, Mr. Met Measpheakdey, spokesperson for Phnom Penh City Hall, said that “This new flyover located next to the Kbal Thnal Flyover, linking Monivong Boulevard to Norodom Boulevard, has completed the construction and will officially open for official use from 1 May 2020, at 8 am onward.”

“Phnom Penh is now seeing a significant increase in the number of people causing traffic congestion, especially at this intersection,” he added.

This 77-metre long flyover links Preah Monivong Boulevard to Monivong Boulevard and from the base of the flyover to the old Kbal Thnal flyover is 123 metres long and 7.5 metres wide and was built by the OCIC Company.

At the present, Phnom Penh has five flyovers in operation including Psar Dey Hoi, Kbal Thnal, Stueng Mean Chey, 7 Makara, and 5 Makara. The sixth flyover at Chom Chao is still under construction.
