Phnom Pen-Bavet Expressway Gets New Study

Ministry of Public Works and Transport has unveiled that China Railway Corporation is conducting a study on the Phnom Penh-Bavet Expressway project in detail for making result report which will be submitted to the government to consider for investment.

The study for detail has been made after the ministry and the Chinese company signed a framework agreement on the project recently, H.E. Sun Chanthol, Senior Minister and Minister of Public Works and Transport.

According to H.E. Sun Chanthol, the company has 18 months period to make the study complete.

The feasibility study on the Phnom Penh-Bavet Expressway conducted by JICA has been completed showing that the project costs over US$2 billion.

According to the report, the expressway stretches over 135 km departing from Phnom Penh, crossing through provinces of Kandal, Prey Veng, and Svay Rieng before reaches Bavet border gate, sharing a border to Vietnam.

“The ministry signed on the framework agreement with a private company already and it takes 18 months to complete and make a report of a study which will be submitted to the government to consider allowing concession agreement with private investment company,” H.E. Sun Chanthol said.
