PM Hun Sen Officially Breaks Ground on 38-road Renovation Project in Siem Reap

Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen officially broke ground on the 38-road renovation project in Siem Reap on the morning of 30 November.

This project has a total of 108km, estimated to consume a total budget of US$140 million. The construction period is set for 13 months, which means the project will be fully completed by late 2021.

The government has also allocated another separate US$9-million budget to restore rainwater and sewage systems in addition to the renovation of the 38 roads.

Minister of Public Works and Transport HE Sun Chanthol said, “In order to ensure the quality of the construction, the inter-ministerial committee has decided to establish a special working group to monitor and evaluate the works of constructors.”

“There will be nine other inter-ministerial technical inspection teams, which will be on duty at each site,” he added.

On the same day, Prime Minister Hun Sen also decided to reallocate the remaining budget from Sihanoukville’s 34-road renovation project to upgrade the sidewalks along the Siem Reap River. (Read more)
