Port EDI system testing over 90% complete, to put into real use by August

As of this February, the Port EDI system testing procedure phase 1 has been over 90% completed and will be put into real operation by August this year, according to the following up meeting on 22 February

Secretary of State of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport HE Ros Vanna said in the meeting that the system testing is close to completion, the remaining is to wait for Customs and Excise officials working at the actual checkpoint to come and test the system.

In the first phase of testing for five weeks, there were a total of 4,161 cases. 3,731 of which were successful, 78 were problematic, and 352 were pending further discussion.

The Port EDI system is a large-scale modernisation of Cambodia’s port control and checkpoint system by switching from manual physical paperwork to a computer and online system.

The current inbound and outbound ship navigation procedures are time-consuming and complicated. Thus, MPWT is hoping that the new Port EDI system will ease the procedure to work more effectively and transparently. (Read more)
