Prek Pnov District to Welcome New 75-hectare National Park

Phnom Penh Municipality is turning a 75-hectare land plot Boeung Ta Mok lake in Prek Pnov district into a large national park, as over 100,000 trees will be soon planted in the area, according to Phnom Penh Governor HE Khuong Sreng.

The governor said that this national park is an initiative of Prime Minister Hun Sen to create a green lung in the capital.

“This park is our PM’s long-term version together with the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Interior, and the Phnom Penh Municipality. The park aims at promoting the beauty and increasing green space in Phnom Penh city, especially for the next generation,” HE Khuong Sreng said.

Based on the initial plan, the Phnom Penh National Park will have over 100,000 trees, plus other amenities such as a swimming pool, a recreation area, shops, restaurants and an amusement park for people to relax.

According to Khmer Times, the project first began in 2021, and aim for completion by 2023. However, the pandemic would cause some delays.
