Public Infrastructure Projects Still Ongoing Despite Lockdown, says MPTW Spokesman

Ministry of Public Works and Transport spokesman Vasim Sorya said that progress on major state infrastructure projects is still continuing as planned despite the current lockdown measures.

According to HE Vasim Sorya, the curfew and lockdown measures in some areas such as in Phnom Penh and Takhmao City can cause some difficulties for the travel of engineers and on-site inspections. However, at this stage, it has yet to affect the overall construction.

“It seems that there is no problem yet. Large construction projects such as the expressway project are still on course normally as works on the construction site are based on different sections,” he said.

However, HE Vasim Sorya is concerned that if the lockdown and the curfew prolong, they will negatively affect the construction progress through the disruption of machinery and construction materials mobility.
