49km of Kratie Province Roads Revitalisation Hits Midway Mark: 53% Completion in Infrastructure Enhancement

As of 8 May 2024, the Kratie Provincial Administration has reported a significant milestone in the enhancement of its transportation infrastructure, with the rehabilitation project of two main provincial roads reaching approximately 53% completion. Spanning nearly 49 km, Provincial Road No. 377 and Road 377A are undergoing extensive improvements to bolster the quality and maintenance of these critical routes in Kratie province.

Provincial Road No. 377, extending 35.5km from the “white” roundabout in Kratie city to Sambo district, alongside Road 377A, which stretches for 13.6km from Sandan market to Sangkom village in the Sandan commune of Sambo district, is at the heart of this ambitious project.

These routes are pivotal for the province’s tourism and transportation sectors, providing essential access to numerous resorts along the Mekong River’s east bank. Notable destinations include the Phnom Sakok tourist area, Kampi Dolphin Resort, Kampi Waterfront Resort, Preah Thom, Vihear Sorsor 100, and the Koh Koh Tourist Community of Jade Dem.

Beyond tourism, the roads are vital for the swift transportation of goods and agricultural products, facilitating economic growth and connectivity within the region.

The construction and rehabilitation efforts are being spearheaded by Poly Changda Engineering Co., Ltd, operating under the concession credit framework provided by the World Bank (RCIP). This collaboration underscores the international support and investment in enhancing Cambodia’s infrastructure, aiming to promote sustainable development and accessibility in one of its key provinces.
