Remarkable Investment Growth in Cambodia Over the First 10 Months of 2024

Cambodia’s economy is experiencing significant growth in investment. In the first ten months of 2024, the Council for the Development of Cambodia approved 346 new projects totaling over $5 billion, expected to create about 270,000 jobs.

HE Chea Vuthy, Secretary General of the Cambodian Investment Committee, reported that investment increased by 38% compared to the same period in 2023. This reflects an improved economic environment that attracts more investors.

In October, 30 new projects were approved, including one expansion, with a total investment of $226 million, expected to create around 16,000 jobs. Of the approved projects, 21 are outside Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and 10 within SEZs.

Key sectors include infrastructure, garment and footwear production, home appliances, camping gear, and furniture. Chinese investment makes up 53.39% of total approved investments, while domestic investment accounts for 29.47%.

As Cambodia continues to focus on sustainable growth, the coming months may offer more opportunities for investment and job creation, making it an attractive destination for investors.
