Takhmao & Areas Along NR3 & NR4 Chosen as Economic Clusters in 2035 Development Plan

Takhmao City and Phnom Penh suburbs along NR3 and NR4 have been chosen as the locations for economic activities and factory clusters, according to the 2035 Phnom Penh land-use master plan.

The master plan also stated that the location of economic activities such as factories will be no longer located within the administrative boundaries of Phnom Penh.

Placing factories away from the city will increase the city’s beauty, reduce traffic congestion and facilitate the transportation of large vehicles without having to enter into the city, according to the master plan.

For instance, the area along NR4 has thus far welcomed over 50 factories within a distance of 20 kilometres from the Phnom Penh administrative border.

In future, the border of Phnom Penh will be extended 30 kilometres more from the current capital centre, meaning Phnom Penh would cover almost all of the northern part of Kandal province.
