Techo International Airport Successfully Completes First Test Flight

Techo International Airport is poised to make its mark on global air travel after the successful completion of its first test flight on August 15, 2025. The test involved an Airbus A320, which handled both the passenger check-in and arrival processes efficiently.

H.E. Mao Havannal, Minister in Charge of the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation, announced the milestone achievement, highlighting that the test flight carried 100 passengers for check-in and another 100 for arrival, navigating through baggage scanning and immigration procedures seamlessly.

“This successful test flight not only tested the aircraft but also served as a critical evaluation of the airport’s air navigation system, radio communication, flight control system, and passenger facilities,” His Excellency said.

Techo International Airport, configured as a 4F type facility, covers an impressive area of 2,600 hectares and is situated just 19 kilometers from Phnom Penh. Designed to accommodate long-haul flights, the airport can handle large aircraft, including the Airbus A380-800 and Boeing 747-800.

Construction of Techo International Airport is being carried out in three phases, with the first phase seeing an investment of 1.5 billion baht, excluding land costs. The airport is set to officially open its doors to travelers on September 9, 2025, with a grand inauguration ceremony scheduled for October 20, 2025, anticipated to be presided over by Samdech Techo Hun Sen.
