Gov’t Accelerates Construction of Sports Village for SEA Games

The government is now speeding up construction on the sports village, which will be used as the residence for all athletes during the upcoming 32nd Southeast Asian Games 2023, said HE Vath Chamroeun, Secretary General of the National Organising Committee of the Southeast Asian Games, on 31 January. 

The sports village will host between 6,000 to 7,000 athletes. According to the plan, by the end of January, more than 1,830 beds have been installed.  2,000 more beds will be installed in February while 6,000 other beds are set for March. 

There are at least 4,000 to 5,000 people staying in sports villages per day, while some athletes must remain in some target provinces according to each sport. 

“There will be a very high risk if we do not build this sports village as planned. That is why we are pushing hard on the project. Neak Oknha Sea Rithy, a construction company, promised to make the project complete on time,” said HE Vath Chamroeun.
