Cambodia Attracts Major Investments: Electric and Office Furniture Factories Set to Boost Economic Growth

In a significant development for Cambodia’s industrial landscape, the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) has granted investment project registration certificates to three companies, signaling a combined investment worth US$23.2 million. The Board of Investment of Cambodia, under the CDC, announced these investments in Svay Rieng and Sihanoukville on May 30, 2023.

Among the notable projects is “LE HOO (CAMBODIA) FURNITURE COMPANY LIMITED,” which plans to invest US$13.2 million to establish a versatile furniture factory within the Tai Seng Bavet Special Economic Zone, located in Svay Rieng province. This initiative is expected to contribute to the region’s economic growth and employment opportunities.

Another noteworthy endeavor is “XINKAIDA LIGHTING CO., LTD.,” which will invest US$8 million to establish a factory focused on producing electrical wiring, lighting equipment, electrical appliances, and lighting accessories of various kinds. This factory will be situated in the Tai Seng Bavet Special Economic Zone in Svay Rieng province, further bolstering the region’s manufacturing capabilities.

Additionally, “GUANGBO (CAMBODIA) INDUSTRIAL CO., LTD.” is set to invest US$2 million in establishing a state-of-the-art stationery factory within the Cambodian Special Economic Zone Jejang Gorji, located in Sihanoukville. This strategic investment aims to meet the growing demand for high-quality stationery products and enhance the region’s manufacturing sector.

Collectively, these three projects are anticipated to generate approximately 1,983 job opportunities for the Cambodian workforce, fostering economic progress and propelling the country’s development agenda.

The influx of foreign investments in the manufacturing sector not only signifies the confidence placed in Cambodia’s business environment but also showcases the nation’s potential for attracting diverse industries. With a focus on innovative technologies and sustainable practices, these factories will contribute to Cambodia’s overall industrial growth, elevating its status as a competitive player in the global market.
