Gov’t to Launch Three Major Water Storage Systems for Agriculture & Eco-Tourism

The Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology has unveiled plans to establish three large-scale Cascade Systems for rainwater storage in the Cardamom Valley, Oral Mountains, and Pich Nil Waterfall, aimed at bolstering water management for agriculture and tourism.

The announcement was made by HE Chan Sinath, Secretary of State for the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology, during a site visit on 20 October 2024, where he discussed strategies for efficient water use and flood control in these regions.

HE Chan Sinath elaborated that the initiative will strategically manage water during the rainy season to alleviate the flow of the Prek Tnaot River, effectively storing rainwater in a systematic manner. The stored water will be utilized in the dry season to combat drought, support agricultural activities, and sustain livestock.

Additionally, the project is set to benefit eco-tourism by providing water for transportation and ensuring clean water supplies for daily use and industrial operations.
