The Johor Bahru-Singapore RTS, A Symbol of Progress and Connectivity

The ambitious Johor Bahru–Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link is paving the way for a new era of transportation between Malaysia and Singapore. Set to redefine cross-border travel; this cutting-edge railway shuttle link is a testament to innovative engineering and a shared vision for seamless mobility.

Initiated in 2019, the RTS Link is a marvel of modern transportation design, featuring two state-of-the-art stations complete with full customs, immigration, and quarantine facilities. Spanning the picturesque Straits of Johor with a 25-metre-high bridge, this project embodies a significant leap towards easing the daily commute for thousands, while alleviating the chronic congestion at the Johor-Singapore Causeway.

At the helm of the project’s architectural and engineering prowess is AECOM, which has masterfully employed “digital twins” from Bentley System to strategy and a connected data environment for unparalleled efficiency in planning and execution. By utilizing advanced reality mesh technology derived from drone imagery, the project’s surveying process has been expedited, ensuring a detailed and accurate perspective critical for this intricate undertaking.

Poised for completion in late 2026, the RTS Link will boast a double-track railway extending approximately 4 kilometres, offering a sustainable, high-capacity transport solution capable of ferrying up to 10,000 passengers per hour. This monumental project not only represents a significant engineering feat but also a symbol of bi-national cooperation, promising enhanced connectivity and economic growth for both nations.
