The Ministry is collaborating with the private sector to establish a joint tourist port that will enhance transportation services in Sihanoukville

HE Deputy Prime Minister Say Sam Al, who chairs the Sihanoukville Provincial Government Working Group, expressed motivation to create a joint port with the involvement of tourism port business owners.

This initiative aims to support the tourism and transportation sectors in Preah Sihanouk Province. He made these remarks during a meeting with tourism port business owners to discuss the current status of the tourism port in Sihanoukville on October 8, 2024.

In light of this proposal, HE emphasized the importance of establishing a joint port, which would benefit the local economy in Sihanoukville significantly, rather than constructing separate ports.

He outlined that this joint port would function as a mixed-use facility, accommodating tourism, commercial shipping, and fishing activities. It is envisioned not merely as a regular port but as a vital economic hub for the local community.

Following the discussions from this meeting, the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning, and Construction, along with the Beach Commission, will take on the responsibility of drafting the plan for this project.
