Regarding the transition process, including staff payment, transfer, and recruitment, Mr. Sin Chanserivutha assured FreshNews that all employees from the old airport (SCA/Cambodia Airports) will be given the opportunity to work at the new airport in accordance with the legal framework and the principles of fairness. The seniority, roles, and responsibilities of staff who previously worked at the old airport will be respected and maintained.

In some cases, improvements may be offered based on performance evaluations and actual abilities. Additionally, external staff recruitment has commenced gradually, accompanied by comprehensive skills training to meet operational requirements.

The coordination of activities between the closure of the old airport and the opening of the new airport is progressing smoothly, adhering to established schedules and agreed-upon procedures.

To obtain the Aerodrome Certificate, the Secretariat of State for Civil Aviation has been actively facilitating coordination and providing continuous support to the airport operators. Compliance with a wide range of technical and safety requirements is essential to secure the certificate before the official opening of the new airport.

As the final touches are being put in place, anticipation builds for the grand opening of the new Siem Reap International Airport in October 2023. With its state-of-the-art facilities and enhanced capacity, the airport is set to further elevate Cambodia’s aviation landscape and provide a world-class gateway to the iconic Angkor Wat temple complex and the captivating city of Siem Reap.
