Tonle Snguot Park: A Transformative Oasis Unveiled in Tbong Khmum Province

The Ministry of Environment unveiled its ambitious plans for the Tonle Snguot Park in Thnal Keng village, Preah Theat commune, Ou Raing Ov district, Tbong Khmum province. The 14-hectare dry river area is set to undergo a remarkable transformation into a haven for tourists. The groundbreaking ceremony was presided over by HE Eang Sophalleth, Minister of Environment and Chairman of the National Working Group for Tbong Khmum province on 20 January 2024.

The development will feature varied infrastructure aimed at enhancing the visitor experience, including a meticulously planned 8,750-square-metre recreation area scheduled for completion before the upcoming Khmer New Year. The multi-phase project envisions natural recreation zones, sporting facilities for volleyball and football, cultural and historical sites, scenic landscapes, fishing grounds, fish farms, and irrigation systems to benefit the local agricultural community.

Minister Eang Sophalleth highlighted the dual purpose of the project: providing a captivating destination for tourists while simultaneously boosting the income of the local population. Last year, the Ministry of Environment took an eco-friendly step by installing over 100 solar lights around the dry river, ensuring a well-lit and sustainable environment for visitors during the night.
